The ninth edition if the Eddie Bravo Invitational takes place on Sunday, November  6th, 2016; live from the Orpheum in downtown Los Angeles, California. It features some of the best in the 205lb weight class, including ADCC Champion Vinny Magalhaes, EBI Middleweight and Absolute Champion Gordon Ryan, ADCC Vet Adam “Big Red” Sanchoff, as well as long-time black belt Guybson Sa (submitted Buchecha).

There are a lot of storylines heading into this event, but the most prevalent being whether or not Gordon Ryan can fight through this lineup of killers to become the only man in EBI history to hold titles in three weight classes. To do so would be an amazing feat, that likely won’t be replicated for quite some time.

Although all the headlines are focussed on young Gordon Ryan, Vinny Magalhaes is quietly waiting to do his talking on the mats. Magalhaes is well known in the grappling circles, and though he isn’t being talked about as much these days; he is the odds on favourite to win this entire event. Although with wins over the likes of Buchecha, Daniel Gracie, Chris Weidman, Fabricio Werdum, Glover Texeira, Dean Lister, Bruno Bastos, Gunnar Nelson, Garry Tonon, and Robert Drysdale how could you not be the favourite.

Though this event is seemingly going to come down to Gordon Ryan or Vinny Magalhaes the dark horse Guybson Sa is someone that can not be counted out. He holds wins over Buchecha, Hector Lombard, Jeff Monson, and Rodolfo Vieira. He is a World Champion and has been collecting state championship titles all around Brazil, and throughout the United States. Guybson is arguably one of the most experienced competitors in this tournament and could definitely walk away winning it.

With the full tournament bracket still to be announced we are undoubtedly in for a treat come November 6th. Stay tuned, we will be updating the site as more competitors are announced. Until then check out the preview video below.
